What's in YOUR cupboard?

First, before I forget, I have a new instruction as far as The Race to the Starting Line goes...

When you get your training in, post a comment that only says "I got my training in".

I still want you all to post regular comments, too! I am just afraid I will miss giving someone credit and if I have you all leave a short comment like that it might be easier for me to keep track. Also, I will update the standings on my blog at the beginning of the next day.

FIVE PEOPLE so far have began their way from Louisville to Flint!

*back to post*

Read the title like those old Capital One commercials - you know, "What's in YOUR wallet?"

Back when I wanted to want to be healthier, articles about what kind of food should be in your house used to stress the heck out of me. Every time I read something about the healthy things I should be eating on a daily basis it would drive me to eat - bad food, of course.

So, when I got my monthly Parents magazine this month and saw an article entitled, "The Healthy Kitchen" I couldn't decide whether to read it, throw up, or cancel my subscription.

The article listed 36 food items that should be stocked in your "Healthy Kitchen".

I actually have 27 of those items in my kitchen right now!!!!

AND the things I don't have don't stress me out because I don't think we'd eat them anyway.

I am not going to list all the things it says you should have. I don't think these articles are a good idea. Instead of an article that throws 36 items at you they should do an item or two an issue.

I mean, come on, it always made me feel like I needed to throw all my food away and go spend a bunch of money at the store. It felt hopeless and impossible.

I did it one item at a time. And you all can too!

Challenge:

You may not get a chance to do this one today but maybe you can do it sometime this week...

In keeping with today's topic - try to do one of these -

Try a meal with brown rice instead of white - OR -

Try a meal with whole grain pasta - OR -

Try adding ground turkey to a meal instead of ground beef.

Get OUT of my head!!!

We've recently substituted ground beef with ground turkey. We're only going to buy ground turkey from this point forward. The taste isn't much different from ground beef and it's much healthier. So funny that you mentioned this as we've been doing this for the past... oh, two weeks now.

I was in the car for three hours last night and the only exercise I could do in the car were... butt clenches! LOL. By tightening your butt (hehe) you're building muscle, I think. Just kind of funny, I thought, because I was thinking of you and wondering if you did these. They're easy to do and better than doing nothing when you're just sitting there in the car or behind a desk (like I do alll day).

I'm still incorporating stretches, crunches, and push ups in my nightly routine. Nothing like 1000 crunches though. YIKES! My 35 from last night looks pitiful! Your brother sure sounds motivated. See what you're doing? LOL.

Have a great day!

Ok, I've substituted most of those. I'm still a guilty ground beef user, but only because I never think about it in the store :( But I LOVE Mrs Dash products, they taste so good!

Challange: I've been looking for some different exercises that I will be able to do...I am having a tubal done on June 6th and I'm sure that that week will be a slow one for me.

Also, I'm a little stressed and was hoping you'd be able to help me out. You did such a wonderful job praying for us last time when Katelyn was so ill and my mom is going through a hard time right now. She's down there in KY and has a few friends and my younger brother, but she just found out she has cancer and has to has a mastectomy. I can tell she's trying to keep it all in for me on the phone, but I know her, she's taking it hard. her surgery is also June 6th and I can't get down there until the next weekend to help her. Please keep her in your prayers!

Ok to now comment on your blog. The ground turkey thing.. Funny you should mention that as I was going thru my surgery do & don't book and found that on week 4 (6days from now) I am allowed to introduce 2 oz of ground turkey to my diet. i AM VERY EXCITED TO ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO EAT SOME MEAT! I am, as you know, a total beef eater so it will be interesting to me to see if I can really tell the difference. I will let you know how it tastes in 6 days
